The System of Isra’eel (Quran 2/47-103)

The purpose of this study is to display the principles of the nation of isra’eel in The Quran. In Chapter 2, The Quran devotes almost a third of space to this story. If we believe that it is divinely inspired, then this cannot be accidental. What is the wisdom behind this? In this modest study, I have broken down the longest passage to bani isra’eel (2/47-103) to understand its principles.

STAGE 0

Vs 47: After obeying the principles of 2/40-46, bani israil are given tafdheel by Allah over the worlds. They are to vivify this.
Vs 48: this is the FIRST principle – the yawm. In this yawm, it is literally every nafs for herself! No intercession will be accepts. 3adlun is used to mean compensation and no help will be given.

STAGE 1

Vs 49: the first ‘wa idh’. They are saved from firaun’s aal who yasuumuna with a bad punishment. Is this an emphasis? They slaughtered those who build your community and kept alive those who were dependent. This is a tremendous trial from your lord. Indicating this is how we grow.

STAGE 2

Vs 50: the second ‘wa idh’. God split with their presence the sea of ppl and saced them and drowned the aali firaun while you gaze.

STAGE 3

Vs 51: the presence of musa here shows the chronological sequence here is not followed. Musa came before STAGES 1 AND 2. He is mentioned here with the stabilising nights. They went for instant gratifications at this time. Dhalimoon here are in absolute form
Vs 52: then god forgave them so they would become grateful (11/12/22)

STAGE 4

Vs 53: musa was given the kitab and the furqaan. Because of 2/51-52, this must be referring to the scripture and the criteria

STAGE 5

Vs 54: this is after receiving the kitab. This is the first thing the kitab does – to address the oppression of the nafs BY taking al-3ijl. Hence, quick gratification is what is the opposite. So return to the baari and faqtulu anfusikum. This is better for you if you knew so god can turn upon you. He is tawwab raheem

STAGE 6

Vs 55: is this an obstacle for 2/54. They need to see Allah ‘loudly’. Perhaps mundaneness doesn’t work for them. Yet out of this mundaneness comes the thunderbolt while you’re looking at other things.
Vs 56: we raise them after death so they may be grateful
Vs 57: we covered them with clouds and we descended to them manna (achievement of desires) and salwa (carefreeness). Kuloo min tayyibat. Now this comes back to the dhulm an nafs (18/12/22)

STAGE 7

Vs 58: at this point, bani israil entering THIS qaryah and consuming how they will (alluding to the adam in jannah theory). They were told to enter the baab of this city in SUJOODl God will protect from their mistakes and increase the muhsineen.
Vs 59: those who oppressed – why is this past tense? – changed the philosophy of the ppl to other than what was said to them. so we have a rijZAN not rijs as per 5/90-91 from the field of ideas, s-samaa based on their fisq.

STAGE 8

Vs 60: musa sought water for his qawm. Separate with your staff the stone. Perhaps showintg the4 stone of economic blockage. Then gushed forth a spring for the coming together of the people. Each unas, plural of ins/insaan their place of tashrib. CONSUME and drink. So how did consume conme into it. The rizq here is the rizq of Allah. New word ‘athau’. Mufsid here is in absolute form. Thyis shows the archetypal nature of this aya.

STAGE 9

Vs 61: FAMOUS AYA – they tell musa, we can never be patient with just uniform food. Sop ask your lord for what grows out of the earth. What is wrong with this though? Why is this adnaa? The misr indicates a city. Why were they humiliated and given the wrath of Allah? They disbelieved in the ayat of Allah and neutralised the nabiyeen without right (this shows nabiyeen arent always good like in 5/44). They were transgressors. Is this because they were travellers? What has this to do with ayatillah?
Vs 62: FAMOUS AYA – are these divisions to do with the community which seeks other kinds of ta3am?

STAGE 10

Vs 63: we took their covenant and raised above them the destiny. Take it with strength and vivify so you may have taqwa
Vs 64: then they tawalla. Its only the fadhl OF Allah that saved from being losers.
Vs 65: this is linked to as-sabt. They became monkeys, khasieen despised.
Vs 66: Allah made these a measure for those between their two capacities and maw3idhatan lil muttaqeen

STAGE 11

Vs 67: musa said sacrifice a cow, signifying the reality of th nation. This is why they said huzuwan. Musa mentioned jahileen because they look at things on the surface. If the naaqah can be the soul of the nation why cant be baqarah
Vs 68: SAME AS 2/61, ad3oo lanaa rabbuka. Neither faaridhun or virgin – 3awan. Always flexible ready, optimised.
Vs 69: now the colour, indicating the love of beauty or aesthetics.
Vs 70: all cows are similar to them?
Vs 71: this baqarah isnt trained to plow the earth nor water the land. Musallamah – meaning she is the cause of salam? They think sacrificed her. Were they at odds with themselves?

STAGE 12
Vs 72: the qatl of the nafs again. They were averse to it. Hence perhaps they did not want to confront the nafs. Allah is the doer here. He brings out what you hide
Vs 73: separate reality with what is part of the nafs. Allah will bring life to the nation and show you the ayaat.
Vs 74: THEN your hearts became hardened like the stone, this is just like 2/60!!!  Even stones can have rivers.
Vs 75: they hear the kalam of Allah and changed it after processing it once while they do not know.
Vs 76: and when they meet you they profess belief but when they khalaw. Do you make happen abt fatahallahi 3alaykum?
Vs 77: do they know Allah is aware?
Vs 78: from are those who need mothering, they don’t know the writ
Vs 79: some wrote the writ with their own capacity say this is min 3INDILLAH. They earn something out of it.
Vs 80: the fire of life wont touch them except for times which they prepared.
Vs 81: still about earning. They will cling in it
Vs 82: the opposite of these are ashab al jannah. Also cling in it. (25/12/22)

STAGE 13

Vs 83: SINGLE AYA NIDA! A positive covenant. Linking 3ibada with ihsan. 4 categories – walidayn, dhil qurba, yatama and masakeen (no jiran yet like 4/36), saying to an naas husna, building links and bringing growth.

STAGE 14

Vs 84: negative covenant. Shedding blood, removing anfus from diyar
Vs 85: they do it and are told to accept the whole kitaab, meaning from 83-84
Vs 86: they told long term gains for short term ones. No nusrah for them
Vs 87: musa was given this kitab, no tamaman like 6/154. The rusul came after musa stage with al kitab wal hikmah (2/129, 2/151) and followed by the isa stage with ruh al qudus. This is constrasted with tahwa an-nafs (53/23)
Vs 88: hearts are wrapped. Resistant to change
Vs 89: when a writ approved by Allah comes confirming whats already with them, they would seek an opening but when they didn’t recognise it, they would conceal it
Vs 90: the reason is they seek to gain for themselves. Instead they gained ghadab.
Vs 91: anzala here is a new thing. They only believe whats with them even though it’s the truth. The anbiya’ here is anbiya ALLAH meaning ppl who bring higher news of Allah Himself
Vs 92: al bayyinat here is that higher truth, greater clarification. They preferred al 3ijl

STAGE 15

Vs 93: THE THIRD MITHAAQ. Raising their destiny. Taking it with strength and LISTENING. They drank the calf into their hearts

CLOSING PHILOSOPHIES

1st PRINCIPLE

Vs 94: if you seek aakhirah ask for death
Vs 95: they wouldn’t
Vs 96: man seek 1000 years

2nd PRINCIPLE

Vs 97: enemy of jibreel, who knits together all aspects and brings sulaimaan. Bushra lil mumineeen shows a higher stage that 16/102
Vs 98: maybe he knits together Allah, malaikaikatihi wa rasulihi..and brings mikala.
Vs 99: ayatun bayyinatun here is like in 3/97
Vs 100: they cast aside their covenants. 3ahadoo here is a rare form of 3ahd.
Vs 101: when a rasool approved by Allah comes confirming, part of them given the book cast behind their backs the system of Allah, KITABALLAH.
Vs 102: these ppl follow alienation practised against mulkus sulaimaan, the ultimate kitaballah. This is considered sihr. The nafs is mentioned at the end which hows it all weaves back to 2/48
Vs 103: amanoo here refer to the whole system, tattaqoo as well, they get thawab khayran (1/1/23)
